One study on high school students who eat more vegetables and fruits showed that they have high mental well-being scores than students who eat otherwise. In addition, students who consume a balanced breakfast also score higher.

What are the Reasons Children Grow Up Eating Wrong or Recommended Foods?

Your child’s food and dietary selection patterns are determined by the following factors:

  • FOOD INSECURITY: This is caused by a lack of access to enough food because of social and economic difficulties.
  • STRESSFUL HOMELIFE: When life at home is stressful, some kids turn to junk food or eat less.
  • BODY SHAMING OR BULLYING: This happens mostly in schools due to a child’s weight. It can cause the child to skip meals. Some kids skip meals due to pressure to diet or after seeing their parents dieting.
  • LACK OF DIET ROLE MODELS: Children who grow up with zero diet role models or no diet education may not be eating inadequate amounts of veggies, fruits and foods rich in vitamins.

Inculcate healthy habits in your child and ensure that they don’t skip meals or avoid fruits and vegetables. Seek the help of a dietician or a doctor to make a meal plan for your child.
