Soda pop are carbonated drinks. They’re sweet drinks with a lot of caffeine and sugar.
This can lead to addiction and this addiction can lead to mental and physical health issues.

When drinking soda (especially caffeinated drinks), the brain releases dopamine (happy hormone).
However, drinking more soda gives you less dopamine response. This leaves you drinking more and more to get that feel of dopamine, thereby leaving you dependent on it.
This varies in individuals, so some might get less dopamine response while drinking soda, making them less dependent on it.
HOW TO BEAT YOUR SODA HABIT
QUIT DRINKING SODA: Though this method is harder and might result in withdrawal symptoms, it helps your body recover faster.
TAPER YOUR DRINKING HABIT TILL YOU’RE DRINKING NONE: This method is longer but easier. To do this, you have to reduce your regular intake slowly, till you stop drinking. This method helps you avoid withdrawal symptoms.
While using any of these methods above, it is advisable to drink soda alternatives.
WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS
While beating your soda habits, you might experience some withdrawal symptoms. These includes;
- Headaches
- Irritability
- Headaches
- Feelings of depression
These symptoms mostly lasts between 2-9 days, but when you’re unable to manage them it’s advisable to visit a doctor.
SODA ALTERNATIVES
To avoid dependency on soda again and to make quitting your soda habits easier, it’s advisable to take some soda alternatives. Some of them are;
Green, black or herbal tea
Decaf coffee
Unsweetened ice tea
Water flavored with fruits, lime or lemon juice
Sparkling water
