High salt intake causes high blood pressure, which increases your risks of heart diseases or stroke. The recommended daily salt intake is just 3g for kids and 6g for adults. Avoid processed foods that are high in sodium and reduce the quantity used during cooking.

 

4.    MANAGE YOUR WEIGHT

Being overweight puts a strain on your bones and your heart and increases your chances of heart failure. Control your weight by eating healthy foods in moderate portions. Exercise to get rid of those extra weights, which will keep your heart healthy.

 

5.    GET ADEQUATE SLEEP

Adequate and restful sleep is very essential for the health of your heart. The body replenishes lost fuel resources during sleep. People who are sleep deprived are at a higher risk for cardiovascular diseases. So adequate sleep is perfect for attaining a healthy heart.

 

6.    QUIT SMOKING

 Smoking is one of the main causes of heart diseases. It not only damages the lining of your arteries and veins it also reduces the amount of available oxygen in your blood. If you are a smoker, quitting is one of the best things you can do for your health.

 

7.    AVOID STRESS.

If you have a high-pressure job or are in a stressful environment, your risks of heart disease increase greatly. Also, people under a lot of pressure are likely to smoke or drink more than is appropriate, leading to heart failure. Find better ways of relieving your stress if complete avoidance is impossible.
